Evaly — online marketplace app

Android shopping app for one of Bangladesh's most popular online marketplaces.

Android Evaly

Evaly is a large-scale e-commerce mobile application created for one of Bangladesh's well-known online marketplaces.

The app brought a complete online shopping experience to Android users across Bangladesh. Customers could explore products from different shops and brands, compare options, add items to their cart or wishlist, use vouchers, place orders, make payments, and track their deliveries — all from their smartphones.

The application was designed to make online shopping feel simple, fast, and convenient, even for users with slower internet connections or budget Android devices.

What Users Could Do

  • Browse thousands of products from different shops and brands
  • Explore products by category, shop, and brand
  • Search for products quickly with smart suggestions
  • View detailed product information, photos, specifications, and customer reviews
  • Choose product options such as size and color
  • Add products to a shopping cart or wishlist
  • Keep cart and wishlist items available between sessions
  • Register, sign in, and manage their account
  • Apply vouchers and promotional offers
  • Complete purchases using bKash
  • View previous orders and track current orders
  • Receive notifications about orders, promotions, and important updates

The challenge

Creating an e-commerce app for a large and diverse customer base came with a unique set of challenges.

Many users in Bangladesh rely on budget smartphones and mobile data, so the app needed to remain responsive while displaying large numbers of products, images, offers, and categories.

The shopping experience also involved many moving parts. A customer might discover a product through a promotion, explore different variations, read reviews, add it to a cart, apply a voucher, make a payment, and then track the order — all within the same app.

Another important challenge was unreliable internet connectivity. Users needed to be able to continue using important parts of the shopping experience without losing their cart or wishlist when their connection dropped.

Payment was another critical part of the experience. Since bKash is widely used for mobile payments in Bangladesh, the checkout process needed to be clear and reliable while guiding customers through the payment process.

The approach

The app was designed around the way people naturally shop online.

The home screen provided quick access to promotions, popular categories, shops, brands, and products, allowing users to discover something new or immediately find what they were looking for.

Product pages brought everything together in one place — from product images and available options to specifications, pricing, and customer reviews. This allowed customers to make purchasing decisions without having to navigate through multiple screens.

The cart and wishlist were designed to remain available even when the internet connection was temporarily unavailable. This gave users more confidence that their selected products would not simply disappear because of a connectivity issue.

The app also included a complete order journey, allowing customers to move from checkout and payment to order history and delivery tracking.

To make the experience feel smoother, the app used visual loading placeholders and optimized image handling so that screens did not feel empty while information was loading. Clear retry and error messages also helped users recover from temporary network problems.

Push notifications kept customers informed about important events such as order updates, promotions, and personalized offers, helping them stay connected with their purchases.

The outcome

The Evaly Android application was successfully launched on the Google Play Store and went through multiple releases, reaching version 1.30 during the engagement.

The app supported a large and growing customer base during Evaly's peak operational period and provided a complete mobile shopping experience across Bangladesh.

Key results included:

  • A complete mobile shopping journey from product discovery to payment and order tracking
  • Support for shopping across multiple shops, brands, and product categories

  • Integrated bKash payments for convenient mobile checkout
  • Real-time notifications for orders and promotional campaigns
  • A responsive experience designed to work across a wide range of Android devices
